Animation is a fun way to express your graphic elements and web pages. I believe in little touches it that can make a big impact. I do think you can have too much and not enough. That is why animatin fascinates me. You can do so much with it.
I admit that I haven't had a lot of flash animation experience but it is an ongoing learning experience for me. I love to play around in flash any chance that I get to.
